The visitor center Westfront Nieuwpoort is accessible to reduced-mobility visitors, a hearing or visual impairment.

Reduced-mobility visitors

  • The access to the visitor center and the center itself are completely adapted to persons in wheelchairs.
  • At the desk wheelchair users will be informed about the ideal route to take and about the use of the elevator.
  • Multiple seats throughout the center and adapted toilets are available.
  • The wheelchair carer enjoys a special rate (€ 3,50 instead of € 7).

Visitors with a hearing impairment

  • Informative texts can be found in the visitor center.
  • Most displays provide the necessary information.
  • The carer enjoys a special rate (€ 3,50 instead of € 7).

Sight-impaired visitors

  • Guide dogs are welcome in the museum.
  • The carer enjoys a special rate (€ 3,50 instead of € 7).

In the near future following features will be provided:

  • 2 reserved parking spots and a stopping point for coaches at the rear of the visitors center. At parking lot 'Kaai', there are another 2 reserved spots.
  • A completely barrier-free trail on the site.
  • Ramp to the statue of King Albert I.
  • Tactile signs along the walk on the site near the locks.
  • A guide line in the visitor center.
  • A large print brochure will be available at the info desk.
