The panorama by Alfred Bastien

Directly after the war, the Belgian front artist Alfred Bastien painted the monumental panorama of the Battle for the Yser (October 1914). On a canvas of 115 meters long and 14 meters large he pictured the whole front, from the debouchment of the Yser in Nieuwpoort up to the burning Ypres and back. In Westfront Nieuwpoort a digital reproduction of the painting can be seen on an impressive screen, in slow motion and with explanations.
